Elephant Trunk Hill

Back to Guilin page

In Guilin we visited a park that has a natural rock formation.  The formation is named Elephant Trunk Hill because it looks like an elephant drinking water.  The story goes something like this, the elephant came down to drink some water and found this area to be so beautiful that he turned to stone so he would never have to leave.

This is a picture of the park next to Elephant Trunk Hill.  It was very hot and sunny the day we were here.
Some of the park's bushes were formed to look like animals.

This is a picture of elephant trunk hill.  Hey, you have to use your imagination.

A vendor close by would rent you bright Chinese clothing and a parasol so that you could have your picture taken next to the hill.

There was also another vendor who had this small boat and a stick that contained two large birds.  You could stand on his boat and hold the stick with the birds and have your picture taken.
A Chinese woman gave Lexi some water from a water bottle cap.

Lexi and the other babies were always the center of attention.
